This project is using Access Mats to form a platform for a tunnelling sled. 96″ diameter pipe will be tunnelled under the highway so that traffic is not disrupted during construction. A small bobcat digs out the dirt inside the “tunnel” and then the pipe is advanced slowly. The Access Mats provides a stable clean base to get started. It probably won’t look clean for long!
